Kristine Zayko is Deputy General Counsel at Michigan State University, where she practices primarily in the areas of faculty / academic staff employment matters and student affairs. Kristine also provides advice on a wide range of legal and policy issues relating to athletics, conflict of interest, academic governance, institutional policy development, alcohol/drug use issues, privacy, disability, and civil rights laws. Kristine is a frequent speaker on legal topics affecting institutions of higher education.
Prior to joining the Office of the General Counsel in 1998, Kristine was a labor and employment attorney in private practice in Chicago, Illinois and Lansing, Michigan. Kristine received her B.A. summa cum laude from the Honors College at Michigan State University and her law degree cum laude from the University of Michigan.
