Does the University require criminal background checks for its employees?

Yes.  Human Resources Staffing Services conducts criminal background checks on all new graduate assistants and regular, temporary, and on-call support staff employees.  Academic Human Resources conducts criminal background checks on all new faculty, academic staff, and executive managers. Does the University require criminal background checks for its students prior to admission?

All applicants to the University must answer a question regarding criminal conduct and academic dishonesty as part of the application process.  Students who are admitted to the University may also be required to undergo a criminal background check related to study in a particular field, licensing requirements, or internship placements.  Questions regarding the application process should be directed to the Office of Admissions at (517) 355-8332.
