James Gallagher is Assistant General Counsel at Michigan State University, where he handles a wide range of transactional matters, including complex information technology contracts and intellectual property matters.
Prior to joining the Office of the General Counsel James led the IT Transactions Section for the Michigan Attorney General where he routinely assisted client-agencies in drafting and negotiating complex IT transactional agreements. James also worked in private practice at Varnum LLP, where he represented established corporate clients, as well as entrepreneurial start-ups, on a wide variety of transactional and corporate issues. James earned his law degree summa cum laude from Michigan State University College of Law and worked as clerk for the honorable Richard F. Suhrheinrich on the United States Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
